For Nate's 30th birthday, we escaped to Langley on Whidbey Island. It's a really small town right on the water. The town itself is only about a couple blocks wide, but it has so many cute little knick knack stores (for me) and an old timey bar (for Nate). I thought I'd surprise Nate and take him up to the island for the weekend. It turned out to be such a wonderful weekend. We stayed at the Inn at Langley and had dinner at the most amazing restaurant in the hotel. The chef only serves dinner at 7pm each night and he cooks right in the middle of the restaurant, it's like sitting in someone's living room. It was such a fun experience and very good food! We figure we have to take advantage of weekends like this before baby comes along :)

You do need to enjoy time like this now--they will be few and far between in the near future. I can't remember the last time Jonathan and I had a weekend alone. Happy birthday Nate!!
